Atrocious pay for staff jobs
We've bemoaned on here about some would-be clients paying cheap-ass rates ... but here in Texas, it seems freelancers are still better off than what the newest full-time staff members are getting paid.
Just this morning: a film company in Dallas looking for a "highly skilled and experienced producer." There's a long list of what's required in the job. Pay: $15 an hour.
And last month a university approached me about working full time as a multimedia producer. The job tasks were pretty extensive. Pay: $46,000 a year. (Yeah, I know it's a university ... but still ... that's lousy pay).
Are companies really getting high-quality professionals, when the salaries are so poor? These aren't entry-level positions -- they want years of experience, filming, editing, producing, 3D animation, audio, etc. etc. etc.
