why do angry people get triggered when they see someone cry (bc of them)? desperately need answers

Has anyone else ever seen someone angry blow up / take their anger out on someone (like a family member) and when they cry or express that they're hurt because of the treatment, the angry person just gets even more angry?

It's not the first time my brother took his anger out on me, but this is the first time I realized that I always make an effort to hide my tears out of fear he'll just get even more mad at me for crying. So now I'm wondering if this is a real thing, and if so, why does crying trigger angry people so much?
