Was this a scam?
Me (30) and my gf (27) were wandering around MGM with our luggage trying to find the elevators to our room. A gentleman in a suit behind a booth stopped us and pointed us in the right direction. He asked started chatting with us and asked why we were there and asked if we had any plans to see a show. He said he could give us a great deal on lots of shows options and asked us which ones sounded good.
My gf picked one of the shows and said he can get us 2 tickets for $50 (normally $150 according to him) and on top of that started rattling off other perks he was going to offer us like 2 free nights stay good for 1 year, $50 voucher for dinner or gambling. Then he took out a map and started showing us directions to this hotel and said that we would need to go there and ask about the promotion. And he said that we would get an uber credit for driving there (the hotel was down the street but I can’t remember then name of it now). And finally he said all of this is guaranteed and he will even refund us back to uber cost as well as the $50 for the tickets. We just had to confirm with him the time we would be able to meet him to check out the hotel property.
This whole time I had thought he was part of MGM and was being hospitable because I told him it was my birthday. But it definitely was because we looked young and lost and probably easy targets lol. Anyways I cut him off and said we’ll think about it, he was insistent on confirming a time for us to meet him. I shook his hand and said no thank you have a nice day. He seemed really bummed after I did that and tried to be like “you can reschedule with me if you aren’t able to make it” and again I shook his and said goodbye.
Anyways, this was probably a scam right? What was he trying to get out of us?
