This One Is Specifically For Vegans Under 35
Vegans are clearly concentrated in urban areas, and sparse in other areas. We know that.
However, I have noticed that something is not being addressed. Where are young vegans specifically gathering? If you go on meetup.com or any other gathering-based service and look for vegan meetups, the demographics are 55+ almost exclusively. It's like young vegans have no care to gather up as a community and it mystifies me after 10 years of veganism. Are all vegans under 35 just living their own atomized lives or just hanging on to the activism angle or to non vegan, stereotypical, socializing methods and hoping they find their romantic/platonic match, or group?
Outside of online dating apps, activism, animal sanctuary volunteering, vegan restaurants, yearly one-day festivals, and moving to a big city, it seems like the typical non urban vegan under 35 is left to rot alone, all the while 55+ year old vegans have all of these routinely meeting vegan meetups, potlucks, book clubs, gatherings. (Just go to one of these events or see their pictures for yourself if you doubt that these events are geriatric). If your answer is along the lines of "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" , then save your energy. I realize vegans are few and far between but it seems like the younger demo would be the more plentiful one, yet young vegans are nowhere to be found outside of those cliche hyper-active or consumerist, non communal zones like restaurants, or activist circles. I am aware of discord, and forums, but that's not the point. That's not a "Third Place".
