it’s stupid to name your kids after something important to you.

i feel like it puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on the kid most of the time. they’re subconsciously expected to live up to the legacy you’ve put on them.

plus, they’re an actual person, not just a “manifestation of your love” or whatever. naming them after the place you met your spouse or other important places/things like that is just weird.

your relationship with the namesake can also change. what if you get divorced and suddenly your kid named after the roses he got you on your first date is now just a reminder of your failed relationship? what if you have a major falling out with the best friend you named them after?
