Do I Need an RG?

Honestly speaking, how important is it that I attend a Russell Group Uni in order to scure a training contract for a large law firm within the country? I’m headed to the University of Leicester which is respected enough but not quite Russell Group. Must I get a 1st now, in order to compete? Or are there other ways around this.
