Nosey ass riders
Rider: Gets in the car and immediately asks me “Hey, you been making good money today?”
Me: In my head I ask them why tf do you care about how much money I’ve made today? That’s none of your business. But I say “It’s going ok, I can’t complain”
Rider: “So do you do this full time or part time?”
Me: “Part time”
Rider: “Oh nice, what do you do for the rest of the day?”
Me: I wanted to say “mind my fuckin business” but I played the game and told them that I have a job and I do uber in the morning before I go to work.
Rider: “Aw man your a hard worker”
Me: “Gotta be, I like nice things”
Rider: “Good for you”
I have this same exact conversation so much, and I hate it. And I mean no offense to anyone but it’s always white men and women that do this. I’ve been black my whole life so I can tell when white ppl are asking me questions because they’re genuinely interested and when they’re judging me.
I often catch Ubers to the airport and I’ve never asked a driver how much money they’ve made or how many hours they’ve been driving or if they do it full time or part time or any personal questions. Why do people do this and how do I avoid these conversations without being an asshole?
