Me and a few colleagues are working on this ambitious and symbolic project to fully restore objects and assets from the early development stages of The Sims. If you're a super The Sims fan, you might recognize some of these from that intro video that plays before the game loads up (especially the television sets and the computer)!
The source material for these objects is the Steering Committee prototype of The Sims, which was put together almost two years before the game actually launched, and was compiled precisely as a means for Maxis to pitch the Sims project to EA, which obviously paid off quite well. The catch is, you can’t just drag and drop these old prototype files into modern builds. But we've got workarounds! We’re pulling graphics, sounds, and all the other good stuff from the prototypes and rebuilding them into fully functional objects, as you'll be able to experience.
We are taking the sprites, popping them into a proper object file, and tweaking the programming (BHAV resources) so they act just like they did in the prototype. Long story short, we’re making sure these restored objects are top-notch and compatible with whatever version of The Sims you’re running, okay?
