(WARNING) Potential Zero Click Exploit to perma ban other players

Edit: As pointed out by u/SadPsychology5620, the victim can decline the gift through Steam. So this is not a true zero click. However, I would think most players would likely accept a free gift when presented with one.

I came across this post in the Finals' discord server. Technically we have no way of verifying his story, but I can definitely see this working. At the very least, I cannot disprove it. The story goes:

  • Another user gifted him items from the shop in game. To my knowledge, you cannot decline one of these gifts.
  • The user disputed the charge with Steam, and got their money back.
  • The recipient of the items (OP from Discord) got perma banned for having an outstanding balance.
  • Finals support, Steam support, and Finals CMs on Discord all say there's nothing they can do.

I don't think it would instantly take someone's account offline, but a toxic player could use it on someone who beat them, BM'd them, a streamer, etc. and take their account down within a few hours maybe? Depends on how quickly the victim accepts the gift and how quickly Embark bans an account for having an outstanding balance. I've never charged back anything on Steam so I'm unsure of how long that process takes.

Here are some attached images from the Discord thread:

I really hope Embark addresses this and prevents it from being abused. Posting here to raise awareness.
