Kink 2025 Gap 20.5" BMX Bike (Review)
Do you need an in-depth Kink 2025 Gap 20.5" BMX review?
The Kink Gap BMX Bike has long been a staple in the mid-tier BMX market, consistently delivering a solid, versatile ride at an affordable price point.
The 2025 model builds on that legacy, offering upgraded geometry and components catering to beginner and intermediate riders who want a bike capable of handling street, park, and light dirt riding.
Frame and Geometry
The Gap features a 4130 chromoly front triangle (head tube, top tube, and down tube), which adds significant strength where it matters most while keeping the weight manageable.
The 20.5" toptube is a versatile size, ideal for riders between 5'4" and 5'8", and provides a balanced feel for a wide range of tricks.
The 13.25" chainstay length and 75° headtube angle make this bike a bit more stable but still capable of technical tricks, while the 9" standover height gives it a stable and comfortable stance.
Fork and Handlebar Setup
The Kink Stryker fork with its 4130 chromoly steerer tube and tapered legs ensures durability during heavy landings and hard tricks.
The 32mm offset provides a good dose of stability, making it suitable for all-around riding styles.
The Kink T900 handlebars, made from 100% chromoly, feature a 9" rise for a modern setup that provides excellent control, especially for taller riders.
Paired with the Kink Bold HRD stem (50mm reach), the cockpit feels dialed and reliable for everything from manuals to spins.
Drivetrain and Cranks
The drivetrain is powered by Kink Ridge 3-piece tubular chromoly cranks with a sealed mid bottom bracket, ensuring smooth operation and durability.
Moreover, the 170mm crank arms strike a good balance between leverage and clearance.
The Mission Breach 25T sprocket is both lightweight and sturdy, while the Mission 410 chain keeps the drivetrain simple and reliable.
Wheels and Tires
The Gap is equipped with Mission X7 single-wall rims paired with Kink Sever 2.4” tires front and rear.
This combination offers a good mix of strength and grip, allowing you to roll through various terrains confidently.
The wide tires provide stability and cushioning, which is especially helpful for beginner riders dialing in landings and learning new tricks.
Hubs and Bearings
Sealed bearings in the Mission Engage cassette rear hub and mid bottom bracket keep maintenance to a minimum and ensure smooth performance.
While the Mission Covert front hub is unsealed, it’s more than capable of handling casual to moderate riding.
Braking and Accessories
The bike comes with the Mission Cease V2 U-brake and Mission Token lever, which provide reliable stopping power.
The frame is gyro tab compatible, so you can upgrade to a gyro system if you decide to progress into bar spins or tailwhips with needing the extra long brake cable.
The Mission Stealth pivotal seat and post combo adds a sleek, modern touch to the bike, with a comfortable padded seat for longer sessions.
Aesthetic and Final Thoughts
The Terrazzo White colorway is a fresh and stylish option, giving the bike a unique look that stands out while still maintaining a classic vibe.
But you can also get it in midnight black (my favorite!), matte baked red and iridescent mocha.
At 25lb 4oz, the Gap is lightweight enough to maneuver easily while still offering the durability needed for heavier tricks.
At $439.99, the Kink Gap delivers incredible value with its high-quality components, beginner-friendly geometry, and durability that can withstand a rider’s progression.
