Should I date someone or nah?

Let me preface this by saying I DO NOT intend to marry anyone, I plan on living alone from my mid 20s to the end of my life. I've dated once before and it didn't really go well and led to me breaking up with her. Now, I am interested in having a temporary relationship just because, but I am somewhat opposed to that idea because it's going to end with either me breaking up with her or vice versa, and I don't want to play with people's feelings like that. I don't know, I'm on the fence.
