Golden monkey help?

Im trying to gong fu brew my golden monkey from yunnan but it is tasting completely inedible, bitter and like hay. It smells so nice in the bag, like a little fruity and chocolatey so im assuming I'm doing something wrong.

Here's what I did the first time: Boiled water in a kettle, waited for it to be around 200-210F. I put around 2 tablespoons of the leaves in my gaiwan. Poured out my first wash which was maybe 40 seconds bc i got distracted. The second steep was closer to 30, and it was completely bitter and horrible. The next 3 steeps were also around 30 seconds and all were very bitter, just less flavorful each time.

The second time, with a new scoop of leaves: The water was 170F so I was hoping the lower temp would be better, did the usual pour out the first wash after 30 seconds. The second steep I did closer to 20 seconds, and it still tasted the same, bitter and haylike. The next few steeps were the same as well.

Did I just get a bad batch or am I doing something wrong? Maybe I just dont like golden monkey lol. This is my second try gong fu style, the first time i did a milky oolong which turned out very nice each steep, but this is just inedible :( any advice would be appreciated

(I accidentally bought 100g of it so I have a lotttt left and I'm hoping it can be salvaged)
