Brand new P1 remake not working

I just bought this original P1 remake brand new and it worked normally for about 5 minutes before turning off completely. I tried a fresh new battery and the screen just looks glitchy like this every time. I'm really sad because I wanted to relive my childhood so badly. :( Does this look like it could be a simple fix or should I just get a new one?
