What are the best walking shoes?

Hello, I am looking for shoes only for walking on tarmac (road and sidewalk) for wide feet, regardless of the style. I should point out that I live in the South of France so it practically never rains. If the sole is compensated, that might be a good thing for me. Could you help me please?
