Sometimes, you just want to play with cards with pretty pictures.

I've been working on a card game for the past couple of weeks. It's a collaborative storytelling card game named Herman Scribble, Helpful Hero. The players take on the role of a group of kids that need to save their town from a giant plant monster, aliens, and some weird Halloween goings on.

I wanted to shake things up a bit, so I printed out the cards with images rather than the plain white ones. Sometimes, you just want to play with the cards with pretty pictures. My printer didn't appreciate it, but the playtesters did. :)

The game was feeling a little railroad-y with the actions:turn ratio & timer on the monster, so I doubled the number of actions and reduced the number of resources. Thematically, the "kids solving a mystery" genre involves some doubling back to get things they missed. The players should have enough breathing room to do that now. More playtesting to come. :)
