New Synology User Questions

I recently got my Synology DS920+ set up and backed up my files. I am still working on finding the optimal organizational strategy for all of the things.

Photos is great and is working fine for new stuff but when I try to import my photos from Google Photos they are all over the place. I found an app that says it can fix the dates but the demo version didn't work for me. (I can't find the link back). How doee everyone else manage importing photo archives especially photos that have been scanned and date modified in Google.

I want to set up a backup system on my computer like Google Desktop used to do so any new photos or screenshots I save to my pictures directory are immediately uploaded to synology photos. But the synology drive backup software won't let me do this because it says "a subfolder is already in use by another backup task."

The synology drive backup feels unstable. I have it set to do a backup every day but sometimes it will say "Resuming..." for several days in a row. I recently changed it from using quickconnect to IP address. Hopefully this will fix it.

Finding duplicates is tedious especially for lots of small files like photos or ebooks. I use the duplicate report but then open the containing folder to review because often it is the whole folder that is duplicated. Is there a better way to find duplicate folder trees?

Any other suggestions for a new user?
