Books about parenthood?

I've recently become interested in stories about parenthood, and want to know what's out there. I'm especially interested in relationships between mothers and daughters and adopted children becoming a part of the family, but anything goes, and I don't care about the genre or setting or time period or even if parenthood is the focus of the story so long as its a prominent theme.
