Reading Around The World Challenge: Suggestions Needed!
Edit: thanks for the great suggestions. Keep them coming!
Someone wanted to know the books I'd read for each country so far, so edited my original post to include them!
Hey, everyone!
I'm taking on the Reading Around The World challenge, where the goal is to read a book by an author of every nationality. I've made a start on it, but am looking for books you'd recommend from the countries I haven't completed yet.
For the challenge, the country pertains to the nationality of the author rather than the setting, where it was written, etc. and if the country no longer exists, I'm going by the modern name i.e. Czechoslovakia is Czechia, etc.
Countries I don't need are:
Argentina: Tender is the Flesh, by Agustina Bazterrica, The German Room, by Carla Maliandi
Belgium: The Krull House, by Georges Simenon
Canada: The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood
China: Monkey King by Wu Cheng'en
Czechia: The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka
Denmark: Termush, by Sven Holm
England: Too many to list here!
Finland: Moominpapa at Sea, by Tove Jansson
France: Heatwave, by Victor Jestin, The Count of Monte Christo by Alexandre Dumas
Germany: All Quiet on the Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque
India: The Inheritance of Loss, by Kiran Desai
Iran: Women Without Men, by Sharhrnush Parsipur
Ireland: Dracula, by Bram Stoker
Palestine: Wild Thorns, by Sahar Khalifeh
Russia: Roadside Picnic, by Arkady Strugatsky
Scotland: Too many to list here!
Spain: Blacksad Vol. 1, by Juan Diaz Canales
USA: Too many to list here!
Anything else would be greatly welcomed!
