is an uk first edition comparable to an us first edition?

I got this hardcover insomnia for 8 bucks online, the condition is incredible. I just saw that it appears to be an uk first edition.

it's the only first edition of a book i own, and i wondered if an uk first edition has the same "status/value" as an us first edition.

By that I mean not necessarily a worth regarding money. I'm not too acquainted in book collecting, and I'm just curious if I may have obtained a special edition by chance.
