URGENT: BOARDING ACTION IN PROGRESS bugged?

when ever i accept this mission i am standing in New Babbage and for every youtube video it seems like the contract appears on their map as a ship they can board, but that doesn't happen for me.

For some reason the contract never shows up on my map and i'm wondering whether i am just being dumb or if my game is broken
