Heat pads heat pads heat pads

So I bought a heat pad but it says "only for glass terrariums." Should I return it because I will be using a plastic bin and cannot afford to have a glass terrarium at the moment, it would be too much to carry and just have no room for that particular set up. What else could I do to make this mat safer for the plastic bin (I do have a thermostat)
