why is grooming considered bad?

i keep seeing things in the news about lgbtq people grooming. shouldn't we be thanking them for keeping the trails accessible for all? maybe it's my European heritage, but groomed trails are so much fun and a nice way to end the day after a pounding in the trees. why all the hate?
