Be honest: did you grow up rich?

Skiing has always been this crazy concept, on my school trips we went to a local zoo, the better school went skiing every year, Utah and France. We couldnt even afford to go to the indoor slope when i was younger which is like 50£ for two hours. Looking at the prices now, me and my gf have fulltime jobs but have just moved out. If i lived at home still id be straight on it but with bills, its doable if we saved up good till next year, but ive even seen people say dont save up long incase the weather just ruins it. How do the normal people do this, my normal is <50k a year salary.
