Serving shiba attitude at Puppy School
Took the boy (9 weeks) to his first day of puppy school tonight. He is a hilarious li’l weirdo compared to the sheps, cattle dogs and pitties who make up most of the class. Some funny Shiba-ness:
Loafed in the middle of the arena during playtime. He sniffed butts, said hello, got his fill then laid down and watched the rest of ‘em play like a spectator making bets at fight club.
Immediately wanted to make friends with the barkiest, pushiest puppy (who is also bigger than him, but they are ALL bigger than him); he seems to have an affinity for big dogs and dogs with big attitude.
Trainer was testing to see how gently puppies take treats. Comes to my shibe. Shiba is the only puppy who sniffs, pauses, thinks about it. No surprise there. He’s like this with all new treats, or new people offering him treats. LOVES treats when they’re from his people. But strange treats, from a strange person? Hmmm 🧐
On our way out thru parking lot, ran into another shiba. Dogs and humans were all THRILLED. Airplane ears X2!! Apparently our training club has a bunch of shibas?!
The Black & Tan curse: Laughably wrong breed guesses from other dog people. He gets “chihuahua” a lot… because he’s small? B&T folks, what do your dogs get misidentified as?
