How bad did I get screwed?
My wife bought me a Rolex for Christmas not knowing much about them, also this is my first Rolex so my knowledge is limited as well. She purchased at Diamonds International Jewelry store in Sawgrass Mills, FL
Its a preowned Datejust 41 Oyster Perpetual with the blue dial. She was told it came with box & papers and paid full asking price of $16,500 after tax. (I know, ouch). The watch is in decent shape I guess, however the "papers" it came with was the authenticity card but its just printed by Diamonds International with a printed ROLEX logo, which is quite deceptive imo.
Its passed the return policy date, going to still try but pretty sure they will not accept the return so I'm almost tempted to just chargeback my CC. Also without the original papers, theres no way of knowing what year this is correct? If anyone can lend any advice, would appreciate it greatly. Thank you. & yes I had the talk with my wife about to research first, buy later.
EDIT: This post gained far more traction than I anticipated, thank you everyone for the replies.
Wife and I are best friends and shes super cool, for all the people saying "just enjoy the nice gift blah blah" Its not like that, she's the type to join me and enjoy the petty revenge charade i'm about to embark upon
#1 Going to E-mail DI headquarters customer service and explain to them how deceptive it was, and will see there response
#2 If they tell me to fuck off then I'll go take the watch to a Rolex AD to verify authenticity, at this point hopefully somethings fucky with the watch and it doesn't pass which would make this process far easier.
#3 If it passes authenticity, get an official appraiser to value the watch and bring into the Sawgrass store and work out a solution in person. If they too tell me to fuck off, I'm sure I can have my lawyer friend come up with something that might scare them into offering a partial refund, etc.
#4 If this all fails I will return to this thread and ask each of you to take 2 minutes of your time and review bomb them to depths of which that box came from. Call Miami Sun Times to do a piece. Make a large sign and sit on public property of sawgrass entrance urging people to stay away from DI.
or i can just stfu and eat it
EDIT #2 - Just sent an official ChatGPT'd email to DI customer service. Will edit again when they respond.
EDIT #3 - Received response from customer service, basically saying to fuck off the receipt says final sale. EDIT #4 - CS Agent reached out again and asked me to link her some examples of the watch being sold brand new with everything for $10k. With a google search and 3 minutes I gave her about 6 examples. Will update response tomorrow
