I made Real-time lights in my pixel game
This will probably be my last post about this for a while—I don’t want to come across as spammy. But as promised in my previous post, here’s some “behind-the-scenes” content!
You’ll notice that the actual play window is relatively small. That’s because I had to sacrifice some screen size to get smaller pixels. It’s still 800x800 though. the rest of the background would normally be black but I disabled that so you can see how the world is rendered into pixels in real time.
Since my last post, I’ve added real-time lighting and a night-time mode. When it transitions to night, the game introduces an ambient purple hue that I thought would be a cool stylistic effect. The lights also become stronger at night—though, in this recording, I might have set them a bit too high.
