Unpopular opinions on S14 finale
I just watched all of RHONJ over the past few months. What an insane ride... I feel like the popular tide is with Melissa & co's side. Frankly the whole cast is catty and dirty, but if I had to pick a room that disgusted me more it would be hers. I could drag both rooms but I'm gonna drag theirs.
I thought them saying the rooms in the finale were "good vs evil" was such a joke. The moment Margaret got on the show she opened the tinderbox and set flames. Siggy got her in and she immediately turned on her--not that I like Soggy at all, but the lack of loyalty is unflattering. Margaret is filthy with all her dirt on everyone, the fact that the ladies in her room think she wouldn't do the same to them is insane.
The saddest part of the whole ending for me is that Melissa got exactly what she wanted. She hates Joe's family and she's a narcissist who wants all the attention on her. (And yes I think there are some huge parallels between her and Tre). She literally auditioned with the concept that she's gonna take Teresa down. Teresa joined the show when she was approached and it was just a low budge experiment. That's a hugely different origin than coming in to ride the fame train while taking down the person who started it. The first few hours of filming S3, Melissa's gorilla husband started smashing things and yelling belittling things at Teresa, meanwhile they also brought in the cousin to claim Teresa's daughter was "unattended" at a family function while JOE was the one who turned it violent. The manipulation runs so deep. You watch Teresa's soul get scraped to the coals as each season progresses, it's actually horrifying. She's no angel by any means but most of the time I feel like she's being attacked by all sides and she's not bright or self aware enough to process any of it. The show only "favours" her in that she's the RHONJ poster child, but the producers also plot against her the entire time and ladies with no storyline are happy to jump in. They LOVE when Teresa comes for them because they come into the show ready for it.
Danielle gives me very scary bully vibes, the fact that she doesn't show any remorse for straight up attacking a castmate is chilling. Charges could have been pressed against her. Again, not that other cast members are innocent, but the level she went to for attention so fast is insane. By the way she really managed to wiggle out of what Jenn exposed. I don't think people really understand what she was saying. Danielle didn't steal from charity, but she held a charity event and paid herself for her own services. I don't think it's illegal (if you do it correctly anyway) but to me it exposed that she's a social climber who wants to look rich and philanthropic when she's not really at that level. Jenn is petty for throwing that in her face, but c'mon that's what the entire show is about. Smashing a cup in her face is not an equal response. Sorry, I just don't consider Jenn's "yolking" push to be equal either.
Jenn Fessler... I think not liking her is common ground isn't it? I mean that finale song was giving me some Colleen Ballenger "toxic gossip train" delulu voodoo. Does she think she's cute?
Rachel... Meh. To me she's just a very regular vapid schoolgirl sussing out which clique is on the ups and joining it. I appreciated her openness about her arthritis, I bet that meant a lot to people with he same problem. Aside from that I don't remember anything about her.
That's my rant about the finale. I could definitely drag the other room to filth as well but tbh I think of them all as hurt, reactionary people. Melissa's room is composed mostly of people who specifically enjoy destroying others. It would be wise to reboot the entire cast, but if they reboot it while keeping Marge or Melissa in then I'm outie for sure. Oh and don't even think of keeping Danielle in... I'm sorry do we really condone violence? Anyway...
Hope someone agrees but share your thoughts either way.
