Regina Nissan dealership mandatory purchase of add-on
I recently learned from a thread in this group that the habit some car dealerships in Regina have of including add-ons to your car purchase at check out is illegal. Since that happen to me when I bought my car a few years ago at the Nissan dealership, I decided to report it to FCAA. I provided them with evidence the advertised price didn't include the add-on they made mandatory for the car purchase. The investigator assigned to my case was very supportive, but they stopped just short of getting an admission of wrongdoing by the dealership. Since the employee that made this sale no longer works there, they couldn't interrogate them to get enough evidence they made it mandatory for the car purchase. However, if a dealership has done that to many people, they may be able delve into it further. So if that happened to you at this or another dealership, I'd 100% encourage you to report it. My investigator said they don't get many such reports, though I noted to him it seems to be a common practice. The more people report it, the more tools they have to stop dealerships from having such practices. They didn't offer me a refund for the add-on, but they offered $1,000 off my next purchase. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you'd like to talk about it.
