The West backed the wrong horse with India instead of China

It’s fascinating how the Chinese have endeared themselves to us so quickly on Xiahongshu. People can’t help but notice how pleasant they are to interact with: how friendly they are, their familiar sense of humor, their aesthetic tastes. This is despite the decades of propaganda and stereotypes, the PR nightmare of covid, etc.

Meanwhile, the increasing exposure we’ve had to Indians on the Internet has had the opposite effect. The more we have them shoved in our faces, the more we realize how they are even worse to deal with than we imagined.

It doesn’t feel like very long ago the Chinese were the butt of every joke (e.g. umm…). How hilarious it is that, despite us trying to sabotage them at every turn, the Chinese are emerging as the undeniable inheritors of the New World Order? The Indians on the other hand, despite being given the benefit of the doubt, have earned themselves the title of the world’s premier laughing stock.
