Getting drunk is really overrated

Having a few beers with mates or some nicely curated wine during a meal is fine. I always enjoy a good champagne.

But, getting drunk to excess horribly ages you, and eventually takes days to recover from. It's a massively slippery slope and even intelligent professionals get hooked in to problem boozing. It makes you fat. Hangovers go from mild discomfort to full existential dread in your 30s.

Hanging out at bars is a total waste of time for the most part and if your "third place" is a bar chances are you're telling the same stories to the same group of people wasting away and drowning in booze.

I know it's en vogue to make fun of Gen Z for not going out or partying but honestly I can't imagine doing my 20s over again in this day and age.
