Bobby Hill was not supposed to be gay

It bothers me when that's the interpretation of why Bobby acted... not right on King of the Hill. That would be the joke today - they would write him as a big fruitcake and there probably would not even be a joke, it would be a Ted Lasso morality play about Hank being taught by his patient upbeat homo son to taste the rainbow or whatever.

No, Bobby was a funny character because he was a very specific kid we all knew - the one who was as lame and dorky as his dad, but also very impressionable, and imprinted by media and TV at all times to behave in a trendy way regardless if he really understood it. That's why Hank and Bobby had a funny relationship - it was like the lamestream media was invading his house through his dork son.

Plus he fucked Connie. And Bill's ex-wife (like everyone on the show has).
