Is IVF the right option?
Hi all,
Me (34F) and my husband (33M) have now had 3 pregnancy losses (2 MCs at 6 weeks and 1 CP) within the one year of trying. We initiated testing a couple of months back (Immunologic, genetic, HSG and sperm analysis) after our last loss in March and have not found anything particular except 1% morphology for sperm. We had our first RE visit today where they did an ultrasound as well. They noted that while sperm morphology is low, the count is very high so it seems less of an issue. Second, while my AMH levels have been in the 2-3mIU/ml range consistently, they saw less follicles than expected with those values. They arrived on two conclusions:
- Factor V leiden testing (which we have not been tested for before) that could be causing placental formation issues
- Egg quality issues which they can provide no support evidence for.
I am concerned the way it was being explained to us, it was more a sell for IVF by the clinic. There was no reasonable explanation as to why they might be seeing less follicles or why that would lead to RPL. It was more like, skip the natural genetic process and do this. And while I'm all for it for a chance to be parents, I don't want to do it if there is another issue why the pregnancy might not be sticking. Anyone has gone through this or has advice on how to proceed such as questions we should ask or some other testing that might be useful?
