Unemployed --1000+ applications -- Zero Interviews
I don't even know what to do anymore. I've paid to have my resume redone twice. I've submitted more than 1000 applications. I've tried networking on linkedin. I message and email recruiters. I just don't understand what the hell I am doing wrong. I know I shouldn't tie my value to this. Before this recent stretch in unemployment, I have almost always gotten an interview and job offer when applying for a job. It was just 3 years ago when I was turning down companies because I was getting handfuls of offers. I have even applied to work in retail and at restaurants and it is radio silence. I guess I'll just go be homeless and panhandle at some intersections. I really really can't do this anymore. I will literally do any job and it's nothing.
There are so many posts like this on here. Doubt anyone will reply... I just needed to write it down somewhere because I am so frustrated.
Edit: Going to just add some context on my approach for my job search. I'll also post my resume on /resumes tomorrow per someone's suggestion.
Yes there was some use of the "Easy Apply" button at the beginning. I've moved past just clicking that button and try other things first.
If the job has "Easy Apply", I'll look for the job on their website. If there is a recruiter listed then I'll email/message them. If neither of these are available then I'll just click the button.
I will find a job at a company and before applying, I'll search for people on LinkedIn who are either from my Alumni or in the same position. I'll reach out to these people to see if they can help or have any advice. I've gotten dozens of internal references this way but these didn't go anywhere.
I wrote a script based on a Google search I found somewhere on Reddit. I'll run it every few days to get a list of jobs directly on company websites. It outputs a spreadsheet so I don't get any duplicates and can keep track of ones I've already applied to. The search looks something like this, checking different websites and other job keywords.

I apply to remote and in person jobs. I hate working remotely and do not want a remote position. I am willing to relocate anywhere. I would say a majority are jobs within a few hours of where I currently live hoping that a company won't really think about relocation at all. Hell... Sometimes I just change my location on my resume to be in the jobs city.
If there is an option for a cover letter, I submit one. While I have a template I got from a recruiter, I match my experience to the job posting to make a unique cover letter every single time.
I am a US citizen. I'd say 95% of my applications are for US jobs. Yes, I sent out a few Hail Marys to a country I'd love to live in.
Sometimes I'll reapply to jobs that I know I'm qualified for. I'll apply with "[email protected]" and get rejected. If the job is still up a month later I'll sometimes make a new account with "[email protected]". (Adding +[something] after you email but before "@gmail.com" will still go to your email)
