The 16 year old hostess wears skimpier and skimpier outfits- management does nothing despite how uncomfortable it makes everyone

So, I work at a family oriented restaurant. The atmosphere is casual, servers just wear a t shirt with the logo, nothing fancy. But the hostesses are allowed to dress up, with the intention that they look nice. Most of them take that very seriously and don’t push the boundaries, and now how to look cute AND professional- which is essential for a host. Most of our hosts are young, like 16-18 young.

One girl, Olivia (16) repeatedly breaks the dress code, literally every shift. She comes in wearing this extremely short satin nightgown constantly, it’s her favorite outfit I guess, wears mini skirts with slits in them and has her boobs almost all the way out every day. It’s kind of embarrassing, to be honest, when customers come in and they see a literal child dressed like she’s going to a nightclub at the front of our restaurant. Yeah there’s a dress code and she’s technically breaking it, but that dress code means nothing if so. And the customers don’t know there’s a dress code, I imagine they think we are all just in on this 16 year old dressing like that. We’re definitely not. And the owners have even said it makes THEM uncomfortable too, to which I wonder why has nothing been done about it. It’s not like she’s an essential employee, and I see no reason why you couldn’t write her up like everyone else.

It’s just so awkward and embarrassing to be around this young teenager that is obviously so hyper focused on trying to look sexy to the point where she’s flashing her panties every time she slightly bends over. When I was 16 I don’t remember being THAT desperate to be perceived as sexy, it makes me wonder if this is a result of TikTok on these young teens. And it’s very clearly intentional, it’s not clear exactly who she is trying to show off for. I don’t think any of my coworkers are creepy enough to encourage her in that way yet she’s been at it for months so I wonder what makes her keep doing it. And then she comes and “complains” to us that adult men are hitting on her all the time to the point where you just know she’s making it up(she’s not really that attractive and most men come in with their families). Like she needs to prove her ability to attract men to us? At 16??? Legally still a child where I live

The outfits are skimpy even for street wear, for a restaurant hostess to wear it is just absurd. It’s not like we work at hooters. It would be weird and out of context if an adult hostess wore that, but not nearly as weird as a child who’s been allowed to wear them unchecked for months. I hope they do something about it soon. Honestly for her sake too. She doesn’t realize that we all talk about it behind her back, because we all find it embarrassing and cringey to stand anywhere near her. Which is a pretty reasonable reaction to have to a child blatantly sexualizing themselves. I feel bad, none of us are trying to bully this little girl, we want her to cover up so she stops embarrassing herself in this way. When you dress that way in the wrong environment it makes everyone look at you like a weirdo, there’s a right context to dress like that in and there’s a wrong context. Clearly she hasn’t figured that out yet because I guess nobody is brave enough to tell her kindly that she looks ridiculous and attention thirsty.
