1 year old golden doesn't really care for fetch

My now 1-year old golden isn't so much of a retriever.

He knows how to fetch and has done it well, but now is just uninterested. Tried varieties of different balls, and he barley cares to fetch any. When I take him in the yard and do some quick throws, he'll do one or two good ones, and just stop caring.

I've tried going down to the basics with sticking a ball in front of him and doing the hold command, but he still doesn't take it from my hands. I don't know how to entice him with a game of fetch, but he is now largely uninterested. Sometimes he'll even just run half way and then turn back, uninterested in the ball.

When he was 6-9 months he loved fetch, but I'm not sure why he stopped. It's kind of disappointing. All my dogs I've ever had loved fetch pretty naturally.

Anyone got their dog back into fetch?
