How to improve at piano as a music student?
Hello r/piano I am a sophomore music student at a conservatory. I study Vocal performance, but I want to improve at piano. I have passed my piano proficiency, which include scales and a few pieces, that are not that hard. I would like to improve my piano skills past that as I would like to works as a music director in the future. That require a lot more skill then I have now (playing piano accompanist and reading out of full scores). I plan on taking secondary lessons next semester, but I want to use all the time I’ve got to get better. My focus recently has been doing a lot of sight reading, exposing my self to as much piano music at my level as possible (mainly be using books like Bartok and other graded sight reading). I have also been working on technical studies like Hannon. I was wondering if their is anything else I could do to improve. I have a strong grasp of music theory and know how to practice I just don’t know what I should practice to improve. I am not at the point we’re I can read accompaniment for voice (which is the goal I’m working towards). Any general tips or specific recommendations would be appreciated.
