Why do Filipino nurses, who make up such a significant part of the Filipino community, often seem invisible or underrepresented at Filipino events in the US?

I've noticed that very few nurses attend Filipino festivals or any other events in the US. Many say that they're just too busy to attend any Filipino event. An aunt said that in 40 years of her life as a nurse in NJ, she didn't attend one Filipino event, whether it was a festival or small event. They're just too busy to do anything else.

It's too bad because the US census data helps the US government allocate a budget for ethnic neighborhoods -- could be housing assistance, community development, infrastructure funding, even some form of medical or job assistance, etc.
