Do you look forward to traveling in retirement?

My parents traveled a lot in their first 10 years of retirement, then settled into golf and wintering in Florida (we live in MN). I’m 63 and getting closer to retirement and my wife is 54 and will be working for a bit. I’ve never been a big air traveler, but am trying to change my attitude because my wife wants to travel. I think it’s cool to see other cultures and countries and I’m not afraid of flying, but I don’t like the hassles and discomfort of air travel (I’m tall), especially overseas, or the language barriers, different currencies, huge costs, etc. I love road trips and seeing the country by car, but my wife hates long car rides and has no interest in that.

Does everyone like and/or plan to travel in retirement? Am I the exception in not liking international travel in particular?
