Predatory mites for thrips?

My office plant collection was abruptly overrun with thrips even though I haven’t introduced any new plants in a long time. While my other plants have been successfully treated with a systemic pesticide, I tried it with my two orchids and now they are quickly losing leaves. I’m just now seeing that systemic aren’t considered effective for thrips at least on orchids, and the American Orchids Society recommends the use of predatory mites to take care of them instead.

Have any of you used them before? Any tips? I’m planning to completely repot my two orchids and dispose of the bark/sphagnum moss. It looks like amblyseius cucumeris and minute pirate bugs are effective when paired together, but they aren’t cheap. Thoughts?
