Maximizing Firepower With Low Costs

I am trying to figure out which faction in Grimdark Future is the best for ranged attacks. I looked at the Dwarf Clans, they seem good to hunker down, but they are too expensive, and not nearly enough activations to be able to take down large minitures, and hordes. I looked at the Prime Brothers, too expensive again. I looked at the Human Defence Force. About a foot of range, and with enough of the cheaper units, I can practically make a hail storm of bullets(that rarely hit) and explosives(very expensive). Then I looked at the DAO faction. Mid expensive, and focused on range, just not very versatile.

Are there secret benefits to any faction at range? Or have a completely missed the best faction for good amounts of attacks, and good dmg, and defence?
