MTA using "security" guards to "deter" fare beating

So I guess the NYPD's 5.8 billion dollar budget isn't high enough and the MTA is stationing security guards at stations to deter fare beating?

I just watched two of these guys at Queensbridge stand there and do nothing while people walked through the exit gate.

So our overpaid police department does nothing to curtail fare beating and the MTA has some expectation that these minimum wage security people are going to do something? What an embarrassment.
