Anime vs game

I'd always been interested in this game, but never had the time for it when it was new. About 6 months ago I discovered the anime and figured I'd check it out. Man I was blown away by the story and I stopped not far in to not spoil the game. I just started the game and got to ending A.

My question is.... Should I continue with the game or just go watch the anime for the story? I'm not the biggest fan of the combat or world exploring. There's nothing wrong with it, but my last game was Final Fantasy 16 which I consider a masterpiece and a top 5 all time FF.

If love to hear from some people that have both beat Nier and watched the anime.
