Josh Allen Being Fooled By Spags In Year 7

Josh Allen had his moment late in the 4th quarter. AFC Championship game. Down 3 points. With 2 timeouts. Mahomes sitting on the bench. Biggest moment of his career. Now squarely in his prime. Year 7.

He admitted he got fooled. He didn't understand the protection. Then immediately ran straight into a blitz and turned the ball over on downs. Gives ball back to Mahomes. Game over. That was a wasted opportunity for his legacy.

A similar thing happened to CJ Stroud the entire 4th quarter the previous week. But Stroud is a young and inexperienced QB in Year 2. You expect him to wilt under that kind of pressure from Spags.

At this point Allen is squarely in his prime. Year 7 is around the time that it started to become extremely difficult to fool Manning, Brady, Mahomes, Brees, Rodgers. It could happen, but very rarely were they fooled by the defense once they approached mid career.

I remember young Mahomes was all flash and running around making the incredible play. Prime Mahomes (since 2022) is a far more ruthless and cerebral Quarterback. He very, very rarely makes mistakes anymore in the playoffs. He's seen everything. He processes everything.

My thinking is that if Allen doesn't have the processing necessary to handle Spags in Year 7 then he probably never will.
