Can I decide the pronunciation of my child's name?

Girlfriend and I have been discussing our futures, and baby names came up. She and I both ADORE the name Clara. Unfortunately though, we like the British pronunciation (like how they pronounce it in Doctor Who, same vowel as jar or car), and we aren't fond of the American pronunciation (rhymes with Sarah, same vowel as hair or care). We live in America (with no intent to move lol). If we give her a specific, less common pronunciation, will that negatively affect her? Will she have to correct people on her name her whole life? Will she hate us?
