Does ambiguous spelling popularity bother anyone else?

Wasn't sure what to title this, but the names where the spelling isn't universally agreed upon bugs me. I know some names (Vivienne->Vivian) are anglicized and that's why there are multiple variations on the name. I am okay with this. Something that bothers me though are names like Allison/Alison. Which is "correct"? Zoe(y)? Finley/lay? Are there any other names like this? I think even if there is technically a "correct" way to spell it, I couldn't name a kid Al(l)ison because the spelling would bug me. Does this bother anyone else?
