How has having a very popular name affected you?

People with popular names or who know someone with one - do you resent having a very popular name? Has it affected your life in some significant way? Or would you say it’s not had any effect (or perhaps it’s even been a positive thing?)

My partner and I have fallen in love with the name Lucas for our soon-to-be-born boy, but today a bunch of news articles have come out stating that Lucas was the 3rd most popular name in our country in 2024 (with the similar Luca being the 2nd most popular one).

We’re a bit worried now that he might later resent his name because it’ll be so common, being one of the many boys names Lucas in his class (maybe differentiated as Lucas H, Lucas J and Lucas W).

Curious to hear about anyone’s experiences in this area! Would you rather not have such a common name, is it fine/whatever or do you like your popular name?
