Does anyone know how to get people to actually listen to your music?

I'm starting out, and I'm all alone to manage my "career". I've tried simply telling people that I make music, I've recently tried doing a little kind of trailer/preview of a song I'll release in a few days, but nobody seems to actually be willing to check it out.

I think I'm in need of some tips to get people interested (at least a little bit) in what I have to offer.
