Uncommons & Commons To Keep An Eye On!
Check your bulk people! A few previously bulk cards have recently passed the $1 mark and some are still on the rise.
Beyond what’s spiked, I have a list of some other things to keep an eye on. Some of which I think could spike very soon.
Already Spiked/Spiking:
$1 [[Cacophony Scamp]]: This is seeing play alongside Heartfire Hero from Bloomburrow. It’s a very solid card! This one’s trajectory is still going up, so keep watch.
$3.50 [[Into the Flood Maw]]: This is a potential commander staple, and people months after BLB dropped finally have realized its potential.
$2 [[Goblin Anarchomancer]]: This card recently spiked up in early October up to $5 but has settled a bit. Likely due to Duskmourn deck hype. If I had to guess, it’s going to sink further so sell soon.
$2 [[Boggart Trawler]] (And by extension all of the MH3 monocolor mdfc’s): This one has been creeping up due to its versatility in many formats. Bojuka on a stick, wouldn’t be surprised if this one rises a bit more.
High Potential For Spike:
$0.50 [[Arid Archway]]: This screams $1-2 uncommon to me, it’s a strictly better Guildless Commons. The former card is currently around $5. I believe the only thing holding back Arid Archway back is how recent it is. In time I see this creeping up.
$0.80 [[Moonsilver Key]]: This is has been rising up the past few years, a very efficient mana rock tutor and ramp helper. Very versatile and underlooked imo. WARNING ‼️ Innistrad Remastered is around the corner, maybe wait until full set is spoiled.
$0.20 [[Coruscation Mage]]: Arguably one of the best spell pingers due to its offspring ability. I have confidence this one will rise. Keep a look out on its offspring token too, it’ll be more scarce.
$0.50 [[Nowhere to Run]]: I have no idea why the price has deflated on this one since release, it’s THE ward disabler alongside evasive removal. This WILL go up in time, I am nearly certain of it.
$0.30 [[Experimental Augury]]: This sees play in many formats and is a great way to get around draw clauses. Plus proliferate is a fantastic add-on that pushes it over. This has already been $1 so I believe it has the potential to do so again.
$0.10 [[Cynical Loner]]: Repeatable Entomb on a stick, with tap abilities this can get crazy. Keep an eye on this girl
$0.70 [[Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar]]: She’s great card draw and a way to stop opponents from having fun during your turn, in Selesnya! She’s able to be a commander too which is nice too. This one has already hit past the $1 mark a few times but we’re in a lull rn, I see this one going up as LCI ages.
Moderate to Low Chance:
$0.15 [[Floodpits Drowner]]: This seems like a great alternative to Merfolk Trickster. Merfolk looove this card and it’s neat blue removal. Not entirely sold on this one but if Merfolk pop off again I think this one could go up.
$0.30 [[Colossal Skyturtle]]: Channel with versatility and a big body for late game, great mixture. This one has been steadily rising, I’m only a little hesitant as Neon Dynasty was so heavily opened and even fantastic uncommon cards such as Secluded Courtyard and Kumano are priced as bulk. As time goes on and as Neon Dynasty dries up, I see this rising more.
$0.10 [[Khenra Spellspear]]: I think this if given the right pioneer deck will become an absolute powerhouse. This card is bonkers once flipped. Though not having haste and being mostly restricted to the 1st side until a second turn stings a bit. I’m sure as the pioneer format speeds up this could become a desirable option.
$0.80 [[Reckoner’s Bargain]]: If this gets reprinted this will lose steam like Corrupted Conviction did with its reprint. Though this one is very solid and has been rising significantly over the past few months. The reprint danger with this one makes me more apprehensive.
$0.10 [[Botanical Brawler]]: +1 +1 insanity. Starts small but give it support and it will go off. This feels like a card that if it gets no reprint in the next few years, it will hit that $1 mark. Though if scales comes back this could slot in and shoot it up.
$0.05 [[Flotsam//Jetsam]]: Commander loves this, great for stealing your opponents tools. If you can cheat this in, it’s even better. The problem is that it’s locked to Sultai which can be restrictive. As with many MKM cards, due to the lower circulation, I think this could inflate a bit.
$0.10 [[Cactusfolk Sureshot]]: I feel like many don’t even know about this card. This thing stops fliers and boosts basically every creature you have mid-late game in Gruul. This card is MEAN and if you want it gone you’ll have to deal with ward and 4 toughness.
$0.05 [[Discerning Financier]]: This one keeps you up to curve, mostly. It’s neat in two headed giant and having mana production + card draw in white is always neat. This one also feels incredibly slept on.
$0.40 [[Fallaji Archaeologist]]: This is probably one of the riskier specs but hear me out. This sees play in formats from Pioneer to Legacy for its ability to sift through your deck efficiently and leave a body behind in the process. This one has steadily risen over this year and I think in time it could continue if play stays steady.
Edit: CRASHING BEWARE!
$1 but soon to be lower [[Tolarian Terror]]: A well known pauper staple, this one had slowly climbed up over the years. Now with a foundations reprint this is soon to be relegated to bulk for eternity. SELL, SELL, SELLLL!!!
