Buying Bosses MSP - Advice/Suggestions

I don't know if he would sell it to me but I do know that he eventually wants to sell it because he is moving on. It's a very small and basically 1 man MSP that I have been supporting by myself for some time now. The cavate of this is that it is out of state from me and he does the onsite visits. I've worked at various MSPs and know the ins and outs, I know there are services where you can hire techs for onsite visits so ideally that's what I would probably do but the good thing here is that onsite visits are barely needed except for new installs etc. I also feel like this would be a good start to having clients while trying to get into my local market.

The question I really have here is that I don't have an influx of cash, I have no idea how much MSPs even sell for and I don't even know where to start looking for loans. Again, I have no idea what he even wants for it but I'd like to have knowledge and info before even considering it and discussing with him.

I see others talk about a 1 man MSP shop and it doesn't seem bad if you have good clients. I mean these clients now require 0 oncall so that's an insanely good starting point to me.

I'm also wondering how it works with the naming, I'm guessing I would open up my own LLC and then absorb this MSP. Then how would the business loan work to pay him for it etc?

Anyone else go through something like this or had general advice? I'd greatly appreciate it.
