Lost small sword from inventory

Added spoiler as it might spoil late game weapons. I'm playing the NTSC version but on pal console.

I've finished the game and looked at wrapping up on trophies. I've come to learn I've somehow lost the normal sword. No idea when it happened but it must have been after the broadsword which made it obsolete.

If I go back to collect it again, the slot itself disappears and the broadsword becomes the first weapon. The spiv hasn't got it to sell either, as I was hoping there was a buyback mechanic like the first if they get stolen.

I've never experienced this before. I think I'm locked out from the use all weapons trophy because I've used the rest and it's like the normal sword never existed. I've not activated cheats at all during the run.

Would anyone be aware of any mechanic which might have taken it from me to retrieve it? I don't recall any...
